Louisiana Long Term Care Foundation Awards Seven Nursing Scholarships to Exceptional Nursing Facility Caregivers - Wednesday, December 12, 2018

LOUISIANA LONG TERM CARE FOUNDATION AWARDS SEVEN NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS TO EXCEPTIONAL NURSING FACILITY CAREGIVERS

(Baton Rouge – Dec. 12, 2018) The Louisiana Long Term Care Foundation (LLTCF) is pleased to award nursing scholarships to seven outstanding recipients employed in long-term care facilities across the state. This Foundation was created to provide financial support to outstanding nursing facility staff who are enrolled in nursing school to further their professional development in long-term care. Please join us in congratulating the following 2018 Louisiana Long Term Care Foundation scholarship recipients:

• Lucas Corona, Consolata Home, New Iberia
• Mikaela Culpepper, Forest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation, Jonesboro
• Brandi Ervin, Village Health Care at the Glen, Shreveport
• LaQuawndria Harmon, Harmony House Nursing and Rehabilitation, Shreveport
• Kristina Purvis, Pilgrim Manor of Senior Care Centers, Bossier City
• Tara Shorts, Zachary Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation, Zachary
• Keith Vinson, Harmony House Nursing and Rehabilitation, Shreveport

“One of the biggest challenges facing healthcare is the nursing shortage. The need for quality nursing staff in Louisiana’s nursing facilities is more critical than ever,” said Karen Miller, Director of the Louisiana Long Term Care Foundation. “Each long-term care professional selected for this nursing scholarship is passionate about providing the highest quality care to Louisiana’s frail and elderly. The recipients’ strong work ethic and determination to achieve their educational goals is inspiring and worthy of recognition and financial support.”

“Balancing work and nursing school is challenging and requires focus and a commitment to excellence,” said Mark Berger, Executive Director of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association. “It is an honor to play a role in providing financial support to assist these hardworking students to continue their pursuit of a rewarding, lasting nursing career.”

The LLTCF is committed to providing annual scholarships to encourage nursing students of high academic and caregiving caliber to continue to pursue a career in the long-term care profession. This program is funded through the generosity of long-term care providers and related organizations, supporting the Foundation’s mission of promoting the development of a skilled and quality-centered workforce.
